Vamana is a Sanskrit word that means “vomiting” or “ejecting from the mouth.” In the traditional Indian medical system of Ayurveda, is one of the toxin-eliminating treatments that together are referred to as panchakarma. Vamana is used to treat asthma, allergies, nasal congestion, psoriasis, chronic indigestion, obesity and skin disorders, among others.
Virechana is one of the therapies used in ayurveda. The Virachana therapy is medicated purification therapy, cleansing the body from excess pitta accumulation, purifying blood and clearing toxins. Virechana is used to treat skin diseases, various bowel and gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes, asthma, headaches and gynecological problems.
Vasti treatment in Pancha Karma is developed for removing toxin from the body and to stop vitiated doshas. In Vasti treatment, the mediated liquids and oils are passing through anus or vaginal canal and this method is effective for expelling body toxins.
Nasyam is one of part of panchakarma in ayurveda treatments. It is a medication done through nose. Nostrils are considers to be the door way to head. This is a treatment for clensing the areas above the shoulder basically nose, throat, sinuses and head. The face, shoulder and chest are massaged softly with medicated oil. Then a medicated oil or herbal powder is instilled in to the nostrils drop by drop or blowed in at a stretch respectively.
Raktamokshana therapy is the blood cleansing & purification therapy. It is a therapeutic cleansing process given by Ayurveda. It is one of the essential part of the Panchakarma healing treatment. Raktamokshana is the prime process of blood detoxification. It is derived from two words, “Rakt” which means blood and “Mokshana” which means leave. Thus, Rakt Mokshana means to let the blood out. The blood is expelled out from the body to reduce the quantity of toxic substances in the blood borne disorders.

Very good massage provided by the therapists. Special mention to Tapas (Abhyanga + Steam) & Shishir (Abhyanga + Potli). They asked about body aches, areas I wanted them to concentrate on and the kind of pressure desired before start of massage.
I mostly came for Ayurvedic oil treatment and that is what I got. I have had similar experiences in Kerala, first is a doctor appointment followed by the treatment. My focus was detoxification, mostly through the oils going into the skin pores, steam/sweat and such.
Had a great session with Shodhanam. They have wonderful massage therapy which really rejuvenates mind and soul. I was and will always prefer Shodhanam Ballygunge.
